Open Group Snowshoe Walks
Join us for a snowshoe walk, whether you are one person or a few, we have mixed group walks several times a week that you can enjoy.  Meet other people that also want to get out in the snow but stay away from the noise of the ski pistes. Small group sizes, usually no more than 8.

Includes pick up and drop off from a central location in our minibus, all snowshoe equipment,
coffee & cake.

How to Book:
1. Decide which walk(s) you would like to do from these descriptions:

This is a snowshoe designed to be at a slower pace - an introduction to snowshoeing if you are a bit apprehensive about it or maybe you have a health issue or an injury you are rehabilitating or perhaps you just want to wander more slowly and take in the landscape? We will endeavor to take the 'easier' paths - so those that have been pisted or well trodden to make a nice path - there will still be an option to take an off piste path if you want to - we will give you the skills and, hopefully, the confidence to progress further.

A snowshoe open to all those who want to get out walking in the snow. You do not need to have tried snowshoeing before but it is advantageous if you are used to doing some hiking. We take lots of mini breaks to share stories of the area, history and simply to look

at the beautiful landscape. We endeavor to go to  different locations / do different walks every day, particularly if we see a name that has booked more than one snowshoe walk

An afternoon snowshoe which finishes just after sunset. Whilst we cannot guarantee that there will be an amazing sunset, we can guarantee a totally different experience of seeing the lights of the villages switch on, the piste bashers on the distant mountains and, if it is a dark evening, the experience of walking back to the minibus with a headtorch on! You do not need to have tried snowshoeing before but it is advantageous if you are used to doing some hiking. Finish time is approximate depending on the sunset, weather and how cold it gets after sunset

A snowshoe open to all that are hiking fit and want to explore further into our beautiful landscape. The idea is that we will go further than a half day hike enabling us to see more – but we will still take those necessary pauses to catch our breath and take photos. You will need to bring your own packed lunch and water. If you have already been on several of our snowshoe walks then this is ideal for you! The time will be approximately 5 hours from pick up to drop off in Morzine

2. Choose your dates from the timetable below
(if you are on a mobile, just click this button instead)

3. Check out our FAQ's below about pick up locations, what to wear, etc.

4. Remember to bring your loyalty card to collect stamps towards a free snowshoe.
If you don't have one, just pick one up from us on the day of your walk

Snowshoe FAQ's for Open Groups

Where are the pick up locations?

Look out for a white or silver minibus with our DaysAway Adventures logo on:

What should I wear & bring?

- Good walking boots or laced up snow boots (not 'moon boots' or UK size 11+ Sorrels boots as they are too big for our snowshoes) Not trainers as you may get cold, wet feet!

- Warm trousers such as salopettes

- layers - t-shirt / wicking top & fleecey jumper and a jacket.  You can get warm so layering is the way to go

- Hat, gloves, sunglasses, suncream

- Small rucksack with some water in and space for a spare jumper

- camera for fab pictures!

What do you provide?

We have a adult and children snowshoes with walking poles that we fit to you, a qualified and legally registered Leader, transport from a central location, a hot drink and a slice of cake from Apeeling cakes.

Do I need a lift pass?

No.  We have minibuses which we use to get to the best snow conditions.

What is the difference between an Open snowshoe and a Private snowshoe?
You pay for an open snowshoe per person.  It is ideal if there are just a couple of you as it makes it cheaper than a private snowshoe.  This is also the place to come to meet more people and socialise a little!  Of course you don't know who will be in the groups and so we may go at a slower pace than you would like.  On open snowshoes, we meet at a central location for easy pick up and drop off and we generally go to a place that will be suitable for easy levels.  Not sure?  Consider booking a bespoke private snowshoe!

Can I bring my dog(s)?

On an Open Group snowshoe we would prefer you not to bring your dog because of the possibility of wild animals and this being an open group of people.  However, we can offer you a private group walk with you, your dog(s) and your friends.

Will I be fit enough?
Yes! We are trained guides who find an easy middle pace.  We have lots of mini breaks to look at the view or to learn about the area - we go at the slowest pace.

Can I bring my small child?
Yes of course - small children that can be carried in a carry pack are welcome.  We ask that you still book a (free) ticket for them as of course they will need their own seat in the minibus.  You will also have to provide your own child seat for the minibus as we only have booster seats.  We ask that children 6 or younger who are not in a carry pack do not come on the Open snowshoe sessions as this will considerably slow down full paying adults.  However, again, please do ask as it depends how many other bookings we have on the event.

How long are the half day sessions?
They are 3.5 hours from pick up to drop off.  This includes a transfer time in the minibus which can be 15 to 30 minutes depending on the chosen area and traffic.

Where do we go snowshoeing?

We choose safe areas that will be suitable for the advertised level.  We take account of the snow conditions and the weather when planning our routes.

Can you pick me up from my accommodation?

On an open snowshoe with other people on this we ask you to meet at a central location so that we can all get the maximum amount of time out snowshoeing.

What if the weather is bad?

If we judge the weather to be too bad (high winds or torrential rain) or avalanche risk too high, we will contact you as soon as possible to arrange another day or a full refund.  We still go out if it is snowing because it is beautiful!

Can I get a discount if I have my own snowshoes?

Yes!  Just choose the appropriate ticket - it gives you €5 off the full adult ticket price
